Volunteering - Helping others and helping yourself

Picture of our volunteers

The Disability Information Bureau is very proud of all our volunteers, who help running our services and we could not exist without their support, hard work and dedication. We are always looking for new people to join our team and fill the following roles:

  • Receptionists
  • Benefit workers
  • IT tutors and classroom assistants
  • Accessibility assessors
  • Data administrators

We are a friendly organisation and work hard to make everyone feel welcome. Volunteering for us is a great opportunity to give something back to the community, meet other people, make new friends and learn new skills.

How much time is expected of me?

The amount of time you volunteer is role dependent. For example, receptionists tend to work a half day session, whereas other roles can be more flexible. However many hours you do, our prime concern is that you are reliable and committed to the role.

What is the application process?

There is a simple application form for you to complete and we require two references. Once you have completed your form, we will arrange an informal meeting to discuss your skills and what you would like to do. Most roles are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check
